The best way to treat acne scar is to use combination therapy, which is used by your specialist doctor depending on the severity, type of the scar, its extent and the patient’s condition.
In most patients with the problem of acne scar , combined subcision and CO2 laser or Fotona are performed. But depending on the type and severity of the scar, some patients may need other methods. Among these methods, we can mention micropunch surgery, PRP, mesotherapy and filler or fat injection.
In order to achieve the best results, the treatment sessions must be completed. The length of the treatment period varies between 4 and 8 months depending on the type and number of procedures required.
Below we talk about the methods used in the treatment of scar:
Subcision:
Subcision is performed in two methods. which is done on an outpatient basis and with local anesthesia in the clinic.
In the “cannula” method, first, the tumescent liquid, which includes anesthesia, is injected under the desired area. At this stage, you feel a little pain, which is completely bearable. Then, with special cannulas, we separate the adhesions under the scar and by stimulating the skin, we increase collagen production.
The recovery period in the subcision is 3-4 days, and a large percentage of the swelling caused by the injection of Tamicent is removed within 3-4 days. This method is sufficient for most people in one session.
In the local subcision method, we use a needle under each scar to remove and create a controlled hematoma to fill the cavity. This method may require 1 to 3 sessions at least one month apart.
In the first session, a combined subcision (including two methods) is usually performed for you.
CO2 laser and Fotona:
In this method, we use laser to controlled destroy and controlled heat in the lower layers of the skin so that the skin increases collagen production for self-repair and during this process improves the depth and appearance of the scar. Usually, 3 to 4 laser sessions are performed individually or combined (both CO2 and Fotona together) with an interval of at least one month, depending on the opinion of the specialist doctor.
(For more information about lasers, refer to the topic of lasers.)
Micropunch surgery:
In this method, which is used for very deep pimples, your surgeon pulls up the indented tissue with a punch. This surgery is performed with local anesthesia in the clinic. The required number of sessions is 1 to 3 sessions.
Filler or fat injection:
At the end of the sessions, you will get better results with filler or fat injections. Especially if Ellance filler is used, which will also be used to make collagen in addition to filling the scar.
The healing rate of the pimple depends on many factors, including the completion of the sessions and the follow-up of the treatment and the healing rate of your skin. Finally, pay attention to the fact that the doctor determines the methods and the number of required sessions.
