Primary lesions often appear on the hands, forearms, legs, and face, and also involve the mouth and eye area.

Although the diagnosis of vitiligo is generally based on clinical findings, a biopsy is sometimes required to differentiate vitiligo from other hypopigmented or depigmented disorders.
